"لأنك الروح في الفلج، لأنك الماء في الكتاب، والسراب محدقاً في الخرير، ينبت الأسى على الأرض طحالب في دموع الملائكة، قبل أن تغادرنا إلى فوق في ليل تاه حتى عن ظلامه. لم يبق في اللغة سوى تمدد أمام البلدزورات" "ذهبت هذا الأصيل إلى النقطة التي كنا نشهد فيها الغروب بحثاً عن دموعك في الموج أو خطواتك في أجنحة الغرقى. لكن لم يكن هناك زبد ولا نوارس. كانت سفينة نوح قد رست والأزواج تغادرها على السلم الذي اخضّر بالانتظار: شمسٌ وقمر، نجمةٌ وجمعة، أسد ولبؤة، صحراء وغيمة، حمامةٌ ودم، نارٌ وريح، جبلٌ وسهل، وطنٌ ومنفى، فكرة وسجن. لكن يا حبيبتي لم يكن هناك رجلٌ ولا امرأة، ولا حرف الواو الذي كنا نقصده كلما افترقنا".
في شعره عبد الله حبيب سيالات مشاعر تستأثر بالقارئ وتأخذه إلى عالم نديّ، غني المعاني، سلس العبارات، فيه صور تجارب الحياة متشكلة في إطار نثري حيناً متحرر من أسار القوافي في كثير من الأحيان، ينساب ضمن وقع موسيقي يتردد صداه داخل النفس ويخلق فراقاً بعده حتوف.
