يرتكز هذا البحث على موضوع التغيرات الدلالية التي اهتم بها علماء اصول الفقه والتي تم توظيفها في فهم النص القرآني، الأمر الذي يؤكد متانة العلاقة التي تربط بين علم اصول الفقه وعلوم القرآن.
وفي هذا العمل اعتمد الكاتب منهجاً يقوم على بعدين أحدهما نظري، وثانيهما عملي تطبيقي. أما الجانب النظري فقد حضرت فيه التعريفات الإصطلاحية مع التحليل والتقسيم، والمقارنة، والنقد والترجيح في المواطن التي تقتضيها الدراسة. أما الجانب التطبيقي فهو مهمَ لتبيَن أثر التغيرات الدلالية في فهم النص القرآني. وأما المصدر المركزي الرئيسي في هذه الدراسة فهو كتب علم أوصول الفقه أساساً، ثم التفسير وعلوم القرآن، وكذلك كتب اللغة التي اهتم فيها اللغويون بالتغيرات الدلالية، أي أن هذا العلم يبحث في العلاقة بين الدال الذي هو الدليل الشرعي، والمدلول الذي هو الأحكام الشرعية المستفادة من هذا الدليل، أي أنه يبحث في الأنساق العامة الرابطة بين الدال والمدلول بقصد اكتشاف نظام العلاقة بينهما...
إن ما يريد تأكيده مؤلف الكتاب هو أن فهم النص القرآني لا يتوقف على فهم الدلالات المعجمية للألفاظ، أو على معرفة الوضع فحسب، فذلك شرط ضروري لكنه غير كاف وحده في الكشف عن مراد الشارع، بل لا بدَ برأي الكاتب من التحري في فهم أساليب الاستعمال، ومعرفة السياقات المقالية والمقامية المحيطة بالنصوص وألفاظها. وجميع فصول هذه الدراسة تؤكد لنا أن الألفاظ ليس لها ولالات جامدة لا تبرحها، فلكل مقال مقام، ولكل مقام أثره الواضح في بيان تغير الدلالة أو تنوعها. وليس للقارئ سلطة يفرض بها فهمه على النص القرآني، بل المرجع الأصلي هو كلمات الله تعالى في سياقاتها المتنوعة عند الخطاب.
