تناول الكتاب قصص غرامية لعدد من الزعماء العرب وملوك المنطقة والجانب العاطفي في حياتهم الذي يعتبر من عالمًا سريًا مليء بالأسرار والحكايات المثيرة التي يتناولها المؤلف بحرفيه عاليه.
ويتناول الكاتب جانبا غير مطروق من حياة هؤلاء الزعماء، ومن بينهم ملك الأردن الراحل الحسين بن طلال، وشاه إيران السابق، والرئيس التونسي السابق الحبيب بورقيبة والزعيم المصري سعد زغلول.
ويقول الكاتب: رغم كثرة الشهادات التي قدمها عن حكامنا سياسيون ومحللون وصحفيون ، عاشوا الأحداث في كواليس المسرح السياسي، وعرفوا عن الزعماء ما لم نعرفه عنهم..فإن أغلب هذه الشهادات- ولا أقول كلها- شهادات "مجروحة" أو ناقصة، لأنها تهمل وجه الإنسان في حياة الزعيم، ويضيف إن كتابه: ليس إلا محاولة بسيطة لفهم بعض من هؤلاء الرجال الذين أصبحوا في بلادنا حكامًا.
