يتناول الدكتور أنور سلطان وكيل جامعة الإسكندرية سابقاً والأستاذ بجامعة بيروت العربية في هذا الكتاب دراسة أحكام الالتزام والكلام في أحكام الالتزام يشمل دراسة، آثار الالتزام، انتقال الالتزام، وانقضاء الالتزام، وبالنظر لتشعب هذه الموضوعات فقد آثر المؤلف تقسيم هذه الموضوعات في الكتاب على ثلاثة أقسام، تناول أولها الآثار العامة للالتزام والآثار الخاصة لبعض الالتزامات، كما ودرس الأوصاف المعدلة لأثر الالتزام أي الأمل والشروط، وتعدد محل الالتزام. وأخيراً تعدد طرفي الالتزام.
أما في الثاني فبحث في انتقال الالتزام السلبي والإيجابي، حوالة الحق شروطها، آثارها، حوالة الدين، صورها، أما في القسم الثالث فتوقف عند انقضاء الالتزام (انقضاء الالتزام بالوفاء، انقضاء الالتزام بما يعادل الوفاء، انقضاء الالتزام دون وفاء أو ما يعادل الوفاء).
