إبراهيم أحمد العزب شعلان، من مواليد 14 يناير 1934م بمدينة زفتى محافظة الغربية بمصر، حاصل على ليسانس الآداب من قسم اللغة العربية عام 1958م بجامعة القاهرة، كما حصل على ماجستير في الأدب الشعبي عام 1969م بنفس الكلية، ودكتوراه في الأدب الشعبي بمرتبة الشرف الأولى عام 1975م بنفس الكلية.

هذا هو الجزء الثالث من هذه الموسوعة وقد احتوى على مايقرب من 2500 مثلا من الميدان وهو المجتمع المصري. وقد سرنا فيه على نفس النهج الذي التزامنا به في الجزئين السابقين. فقد ذكرنا في الجزء الثاني أن الأمثال هي التي تفرض التصنيف المناسب وقلنا (أننا قد مررنا بعدة تصنيفات اسقطنا خلالها عناوین واستحدثنا أخرى ودمجنا بعضها مع البعض الآخر وانتقلنا من العناوين الفرعية إلى توليد عناوين هذا هو الجزء الثالث من هذه الموسوعة وقد احتوى على مايقرب من 2500 مثلا من الميدان وهو المجتمع المصري. وقد سرنا فيه على نفس النهج الذي التزامنا به في الجزئين السابقين. فقد ذكرنا في الجزء الثاني أن الأمثال هي التي تفرض التصنيف المناسب وقلنا (أننا قد مررنا بعدة تصنيفات اسقطنا خلالها عناوین واستحدثنا أخرى ودمجنا بعضها مع البعض الآخر وانتقلنا من العناوين الفرعية إلى توليد عناوين كبيرة وانتقلنا منها إلى تكوين رؤوس موضوعات ثم إلي تكوين موضوعات متجاورة ووراء بعضها)، ومازالنا نعتقد أن هذه الوسيلة هي الأسلوب الأمثل في تصنيف مجموعة الأمثال هذه بصرف النظر عن التصنيف الشكلى أو الموضوعي أو الاستدلالي أو غير ذلك من التصنيفات.
ومع ذلك فان القارئ الكریم سوف يلحظ تغيرا طفيفا في العناوين ولكنه التغير - كما نعتقد - الذي يزيد من إيضاح الصورة ويعمق من الرؤية السريعة المباشرة.
