إبراهيم أحمد العزب شعلان، من مواليد 14 يناير 1934م بمدينة زفتى محافظة الغربية بمصر، حاصل على ليسانس الآداب من قسم اللغة العربية عام 1958م بجامعة القاهرة، كما حصل على ماجستير في الأدب الشعبي عام 1969م بنفس الكلية، ودكتوراه في الأدب الشعبي بمرتبة الشرف الأولى عام 1975م بنفس الكلية.

هذه السلسلة تهتمد على الكثرة النصية ولكنها لا تصنف بالضرورة تحت سلسلة المعاجم لأن المعاجم تهتم أساسا باللغويات وما يتعلق بها من أصوات واشتقاقات وتهتم بالكلمة المفردة كوحدة قائمة، كما أن المعاجم تعتمد في الجانب التنظيمي أو التصنيفي على الترتيب المعجمي وهو الترتيب الآلف بائي أو الهجائي ولا تعني بالترتيب الموضوعي.
ومن هنا فإن المعاجم اللغوية تختلف عن سلسلة الأمثال هذه، ذلك أن هذه السلسلة تهتمد على الكثرة النصية ولكنها لا تصنف بالضرورة تحت سلسلة المعاجم لأن المعاجم تهتم أساسا باللغويات وما يتعلق بها من أصوات واشتقاقات وتهتم بالكلمة المفردة كوحدة قائمة، كما أن المعاجم تعتمد في الجانب التنظيمي أو التصنيفي على الترتيب المعجمي وهو الترتيب الآلف بائي أو الهجائي ولا تعني بالترتيب الموضوعي.
