كيف ظهرت الكتابة العربية؟ تحكى حكاية عن ثلاثة رجال من قبيلة "طيئ" هم "مرامر بن مرة" و"أسلم بن سدرة" و"عامر بن جدرة"، نزلول مدينة الأنبار على شاطئ الفرات، وجلسوا ليخترعوا الحروف الأبجدية العربية، فوضعوها حروفاً مقطعة وموصولة، صمم "مرامر" شكل الحروف، وقام "أسلم" بفصلها ووصلها، وكان دور" عامر" وضع علامات التشكيل ، وانتقلت تلك الكتابة العربية من الأنبار إلى الحيرة ثم إلى مكة، وتعلم كتابتها هناك من تعلم.
وتحكى أسطورة أخرى أبطالها - هذه المرة - ستة رجال من بلد يسمى "طسم" اجتمعوا عن "عدنان ابن إدد" ليتفقوا على حروف للكتابة العربية، كانت أسماؤهم "أبجد"، "هوز"، "حطى"، "كلمن"، "سعفص"، "قرشت"، قام الرجال الستة بإختيار حروف الكتابة العربية بإستعمال الحروف التى تتألف منها أسماؤهم، وعندما جربوا استخدامها، وجدوا فى الألفاظ حروفاً ليست الأسماء التى يحملونها، لذا، أضافوا إليها حروف "الثاء"، و"الخاء"، و"الذال"، و"الضاد"، و"الظاء"، و"الغين"، فأكتملت بذلك حروف لغتنا العربية!
هل تصدق أن اللغة تحلق بهذه الطريقة؟ وبهذه البساطة؟.. بالطبع لا، فاللغة والكتابة تولد على مدى عمر طويل، ولا تولد دفعة واحدة مثلما تحكى الحكايات الخرافية، واللغة العربية مرت بطريق طويل جداً حتى حصلت إلى ما هى عليه الآن.
