حظي الحظ العربي بإجلال الأتراك وتقديرهم له منذ أن قبلوا الإسلام ديناً خلال القرن العاشر الميلادي, فأستخدموا حروفه في لغتهم, وأدوا دوراً مهماً في بلوغ الخط إلي مرتبة الإبداع الفني, وظل حال الخط بهذا الوضع طيلة عهدهم الزاهر الذي أستمر حتي نهاية القرن التاسع عشر وبدايات القرن العشرين؛ حيث أقبل عليه خاصتهم وعامتهم, بل وسلاطينهم أيضاً الذين عظموا قدره إلي درجة التقديس, وأنضموا بذلك إلي الأمم التي أنطوت تحت راية الإسلام وتضافرت علي تجويد هذا الفن وتحسينه.
ويعد هذا الكتاب أحد أبرز المؤلفات العثمانية التي ألفت خلال هذه الفترة (1305هـ / 1884م), ويحوي بين دفتيه زخماً هائلاً من ترجمات للخطاطين العرب والفرس, وبصفة خاصة الخطاطين الأتراك وجهودهم وآثارهم الخطية.
إن هذا الكتاب يصطحب القارئ في رحلة مع الخط منذ النشأة ومراحله المبكرة ومروره بالعصور المختلفة حتي وصوله إلي أنامل الخطاطين الترك والمجلدين والمذهبين.
وأستكمالاً لهذا الجهد الذي بذله المؤلف في التركيز علي حصر هؤلاء الخطاطين, فقد حاولت المترجمة تقديم بعض النماذج الخطية التي تبين مراحل تطور الخط عبر تاريخه الطويل, مع التركيز علي أهم الخطوط التي أبدعها الخطاطون الأتراك.
ولعل ترجمة هذا الكتاب تبرز ذلك الجانب المشرق, الذي تميز به الأتراك كقوة فاعلة تضافرت مع القوي الإسلامية الأخري علي تجويد هذا الفن, وهي خطوة تضاف للسير في ركب إحياء هذا الفن الأصيل.
