لقد تقصدت أن تكون السيرة ضاحكة، غير متحرج من الضحك حتى على نفسي. ذلك لأنني رغبت مرة أن لا يزيد مع الزائدين بؤسي وغمي على بؤس القراء وغمهم. فللحياة، كيفما كانت، وجهان: وجه عابس طاغي الصورة والصوت، ووجه باسم خجول. في الأحوال العادية لحياتنا يختفي الوجه الباسم وراء الوجه العابس، بقدر ما تتغلب العلاقات الطبقية الكريهة على علاقات التعاون والتضامن والتآلف الإنسانية. فإذا كانت ال لقد تقصدت أن تكون السيرة ضاحكة، غير متحرج من الضحك حتى على نفسي. ذلك لأنني رغبت مرة أن لا يزيد مع الزائدين بؤسي وغمي على بؤس القراء وغمهم. فللحياة، كيفما كانت، وجهان: وجه عابس طاغي الصورة والصوت، ووجه باسم خجول. في الأحوال العادية لحياتنا يختفي الوجه الباسم وراء الوجه العابس، بقدر ما تتغلب العلاقات الطبقية الكريهة على علاقات التعاون والتضامن والتآلف الإنسانية. فإذا كانت الأمور هكذا، قلت لنفسي، لماذا لا أقوم –على مبدأ السحر- بقلبها ثقافياً؟ وهكذا فعلت، فقمت قسرياً بإبراز الوجه المشرق الضحوك ما منع قط معرفة ولا قصّر في تقديم فائدة، ومع ذلك فهو الجميل والأليف والمحبوب. أردته أن يضحك تيّمن الإيحائي بالخير وتسلّح العلمي بما يعينه على صنع حياة أفضل.
