تقف معلمة القرآن الكريم الحاجة خديجة علي حسن العكري على عامها السادس والسبعين، مصقولة الجوهر، تطرب لكل بارقة لحن، تهفو إلى الصوت الجميل، يشدها صوت الحزن، لكنه لا ينسيها صوت الفرح.
تحن للحظات كثيرة من ذاكرتها الممتدة، تتحدث بحيوية وإمتنان عن معلمتها أم جاسم (ت 1988) تترحم عليها ولا تنسى أن تهديها ثواب ختمة كل قراءة قرآن، تضرب أمواج ساحل قريتها (الديه) في آذان ذاكرتها، وكأنها ما زالت تضرب في جدار بيت أبيها المطل على البحر، حيث غرفة المعلمة المخصصة لوليداتها.

لا جواب غير الصمت الذي يقول أبلغ ما فيها من إمتنان لمعلمتها التي مكّنتها من فك حروف بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم، فتدفق منها نور المعرفة للعالم.
