لا يقتصر هذا الكتاب على كونه سيرة سيدة جليلة اشتهرت في عهد الجاهلية بلقب "الطاهرة" وكانت في عصر الإسلا م أولى أنصاره، ومصابيح أنواره، بل تمتد لتشمل سيرة الإسلام بما فيه معانٍ سامية، وفضائل عالية، تلذ قراءته للناشئين والناشئات، فهو من خير كتب المطالعة لقارئي اللغة العربية وكتب الحكمة الدينية والتربوية في آن معاً.
وليست السيرة في "خديجة أم المؤمنين" نفسها فإن المروي في شأنها هنا قليل إذ كانت في عصر الأمية الجاهلية وعهد ضعف الإسلام في أول نشأته، وإنما صارت سيرتها كتاباً حافلاً بخلاصة تاريخية أدبية استنبطها الكاتب "السيد عبد الحميد الزهراوي" من تاريخ قريش في عاصمتهم (أم القرى) وما كان من ارتقائهم الأدبي واللغوي والإجتماعي والتجاري والسياسي الذين استعدوا لظهور الإسلام فيهم، ما عدا ما تحتويه هذه السيرة من حكمة الأخلاق والفضائل وسلامة الفطرة التي خص بها الله عباده المؤمنين، وعنايته تعالى وتكريمه للبشر بإفاضته ما شاء من العلم والرسل على من اختص برحمته منهم لأجل هدايتهم وإعدادهم لحياة اسمى من حياة الدنيا وخير وأبقى.
توزع الكتاب على أربعة وعشرين فصلاً تبدأ بمقدمة عن العرب وأصولهم وأنسابهم، يتبع ذلك الفصول ذات العناوين الآتية: "مكة وحالة قريش الإجتماعية عند البعثة" ، "بيوت قريش وخصائصها" ، "ديانة أهل مكة عند البعثة" ، "مقام النساء في قوم خديجة" ، "مقام خديجة عند قومها" ، "جمال خديجة والجمال عند قومها" ، "ثراء خديجة والثراء عند قومها" ، "زواج خديجة الأول" ، "محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم قبل تزوج خديجة" ، "بيت خديجة بعد الزواج" ، "بدء الوحي" ، (...) ، "إعلان الدعوة واحتمال الأذى والثبات" (...) وعناوين أخرى.
