يعتقد كثير من الناس أن الإسلام ما قام إلا بالسيف وهذا محض كذب وافتراء على دين الله، والحق أن الإسلام ما قام إلا بالدعوة والإرشاد ولم يرسل الله محمداً صلى الله علية و سلم سفاكاً وإنما بعثه رحمة للعالمين بشيراً ونذيراً وداعياً إلى الله بإذنه وسراجاً منيراً، كما أمره أن يدعو إليه بالحكمة والموعظة الحسنة والجدال بالتي هي أحسن. وقد أوجب الله تعالى الدعوة إليه حفظا للدين، وعاب على الذين أهملوا هذا الركن الحافظ للدين، فمن هنا نعلم أهمية الدعوة إلى الله إذ بها عظم شأن الدين وانتشر سلطانه على قلوب مئات الملايين من البشر وبإهمالها دُكَّ ذلك البناء الشامخ وصار نهبا لأعداء الإسلام. يأتي هذا الكتاب في وقت ضعف فيه شأن الدعوة إلى الله وذلك لأسباب منها: 1ـ خلو القلوب من احترام الدين فلم يعد له سلطان على النفوس وذلك: لاقتصار الوعاظ على العبادات والأخلاق، وإهمالهم ما يتصل بعظمة هذا الدين في سائر شؤون الحياة، والتخلي عن الدنيا باسم الزهد، وانتشار المذهب القائل بفصل الدين عن الحياة، وإهمال الدروس الدينية في المدارس. 2ـ أكثر الذين يتصدون للدعوة تخالف أقوالهم أفعالهم لا يأتمرون بما يأمرون ولا ينتهون عما ينهون ومثل هؤلاء لا أثر أبدا لدعوتهم. 3ـ تشديد بعض الآمرين بالمعروف والناهين عن المنكر في دعوتهم مما ينفر السامع. فهذا الكتاب هو عبارة عن سلسلة من الدروس الوعظية ألقاها فضيلة الشيخ عبد الله آل نوري رحمه الله، وهي ذات مواضيع متعددة تشمل جُلَّ ما يحتاج إليه المسلم في حياته اليومية. ينصح به: كل من تصدى للدعوة والوعظ والإرشاد، وكل مسلم سواء كان مثقفاً أم عامياً.
