هذه الرسائل مضى على كتابتها مدة تقارب أربعين سنة، وقد أرسل بها الصادق النيهوم إلى بعض أصدقائه في بنغازي عبر فترات زمنية متلاحقة ومتغيرة في ذات الوقت أثناء إقامته خارج ليبيا. وسيلاحظ القارئ أنها تشكل وجهاً أخر لإبداع النيهوم الذي عرفه بمؤلفاته المختلفة، وسيدرك بأن بعضها لم يكن مجرب رسائل عادية بين اصدقاء بقدر ما كانت أعمالاً إبداعية تكون جزءاً من رؤاه.. وأحلامه وأراد أن يشرك اصدقاءه فيها، وبالطبع فإن هذه الرسائل ليست هي كلها رسائله، فقد ضاع أغلبها بمرور الأعوام. وعلى هذا النحو فإنها تعد وثائق أدبية وشخصية تعين الباحث أو الدارس لسيرة النيهوم، ومعرفة ما كان يجول في خاطره خلال الفترة التي أرسلت فيها، وبالتالي قد تكون مدخلاً ، مع رسائل لم تر النور لأدباء آخرين ودراسة شخصياتهم وبعض ملامح الحياة الاجتماعية والثقافية في ليبا في تلك الفترة من الزمن.
