تظهر أهمية علم المنطق في إرتباطه بالعديد من العلوم الأساسية كالتوحيد وأصول الفقه والنحو ولذلك وصفه الإمام الغزالي بأنه معيار العلوم، وقال: ((من لا معرفة له بالمنطق لا ثقة بعلمه)).
وقد اشتهر هذا الكتاب من بين كتب المنطق للطف حجمه ودقة عباراته ورصانة أسلوبه، حتى غدا كأنه مجموعة قواعد مرصوفة بعضها إلى جانب بعض، وربما نجد فيه مسائل لا نجدها في كثير من المطولات.
ونقرأ في هذا الكتاب شرع لعلم المنطق حيث أنه: "في علم المنطق": وهو آلة قانونية، تعصم مراعاتها الذهن عن الخطأ في الفكر، وموضوعه: المعلومات التصورية والتصديقية، وفائدته: الإحتراز عن الخطأ في الفكر، الذي هو ترتيب أمور معلومة حاصلة يتوصل بها إلى تحصيل غير الحاصل.
