بعدما أيقن الأستاذ حسن عبد الكريم مغنية، أن صحبة الكتاب أفضل صحبة، والعلم والثقافة أنفس بضاعة، وتحصيل الأدب أفضل تجارة، فهو للفقير مال، وللغني جمال، وللحكيم منال، دأب على وضع هذا السفر الجميل وأطلق عليه اسم "كشكول مغنية"، ضم فيه ما جاء على ألسنة العلماء والفقهاء والأعلام والمفسرين، وما اشتهر عنه كثير من السلف والخلف، وأفاضل أهل الورع، والمميزين من القضاء والحكّام، والمشتغلين بعلوم الإسلام، وأهل الخير والصلحاء، وأرباب الرأي، فجمع لنا فنوناً من الأخبار العربية والإسلامية، وضروباً من الأشعار، وأنواعاً من الأمثال، وصحائف خالدة من التراث الأدبي وغيرها من مفارقات لطيفة وفكاهات ظريفة وعبر وعظات وشذرات علوية وأسرار إلهية ومآثر "جاهلية" و"إسلامية" عن الكرم والأخلاق.
فجاء هذا الكتاب تحفة نادرة، غنية بالوصايا تضم كل ما يحتاجه المسلم في الحياة الدنيا والآخرة.
