لا شكّ في أنّ تبادل الحوارات والنقاشات، في قضايا فكريّة وسياسيّة وثقافيّة، يعتبر قيمة رفيعة في الحراك الثقافيّ والفكريّ في أيّ مجتمع من المجتمعات، كما إنّ ديننا الإسلاميّ يحضّ على الحوار، والقرآن الكريم يعتبره البعض كتاب حوار في آيات كثيرة كما في حوار الله سبحانه وتعالى مع إبليس، وحوار الأنبياء مع أقوامهم، وهذه الحوارات تهدف إلى تبيان الحقائق وإبراز المضامين الإيجابيّة التي تتّسق مع الحقّ وتتوافق مع ما يسهم في حلّ الإشكالات والتأزمات. ولذلك فإنّ الحوار والنقاش، عند الإختلاف والتباين، يعتبر من أهمّ وسائل تقريب وجهات النظر، وتحريك الساكن الفكريّ، وإقصاء الرؤية الأحاديّة الّتي يجبل عليها البعض ويعتبرها الحقّ دون سواها، فمن خلال الحوارات والنقاشات تبرز مضامين لم تكن حاضرة مسبقاً، وربّما تتقارب الآراء عندما تتبيّن الأفكار الصائبة والمنطقيّة. وهذه من مزايا الحوار والنقاش والتباين وفق الأسس الحواريّة الحضاريّة، حيث إنّ تجاذب الآراء وإختلافها يفتح الباب على مصراعيه لإلتقاط الفكرة السليمة من ركام الآراء المخلوطة والإختزاليّة، والّتي ربّما ليست مقنعة أو إيجابيّة لهذا الطرف أو ذاك. هذا الكتاب، الذي بين أيديكم، هو عبارة عن مناقشات وتعقيبات وتصويبات في قضايا فكريّة ودينيّة وسياسيّة وثقافيّة مع كتّاب وأكاديميّين وباحثين وصحفيّين، نشرت في صحف ومجلاّت ودوريّات عربيّة في تواريخ مختلفة. وقد توزعت هذه المناقشات على ستة فصول وفق ما يلي: الفصل الأول: الفصل الأول: "العلمانية ومضامين الفكر العربي"، الفصل الثاني: "في قضية الصراع بين الإسلام والغرب"، الفصل الثالث: "في الأصولية والتطرف والإرهاب"، الفصل الرابع: "في نقد الحداثة وإشكالياتها"، الفصل الخامس: "قضايا في واقعنا العربي الراهن"، الفصل السادس: "قراءات وتصويبات ناقدة".
