هذا الكتاب الصادر للكاتب والباحث عبد الله العليان ، هو عبارة تطواف لفكر هؤلاء المفكرين والأكاديميون والباحثين في القراءة لمؤلفاتهم، كما تحدث عنهم في هذا الإصدار، ومن خلال أيضاً اللقاءات الشخصية والحوارات الفكرية مع بعضهم ، التي استدعت ذلك ، فيقول مقدمة هذا الكتاب: في الواقع أن القراءة المستمرة منذ بداية السبعينات من القرن الماضي ، هي التي جعلتني أتعرف على الكثير من المفكرين والباحثين العرب وغيرهم من كل الاتجاهات الفكرية، وكنا نقرأـ مجموعة من الشباب وبعض النخب المتعلمة، التي عادت، أو الذين خرجوا من السجن بعد التغيير في عٌمان 1970 ، وكلما وجدت الفرصة مواتية للقراءة في هذه المكتبة العامة في ظفار ـ بجنوب عٌمان ـ نطالع كل جديد في عالم المعرفة ، وفعلاً تعّرفت في ذلك الوقت، على كبار الكتاب العرب الذين أصبح صيتهم معروفاً وبارزاً في الساحة الفكرية والثقافية العربية، من: أمثال عباس محمود العقاد، وطه حسين، ومصطفى صادق الرافعي، وميخائيل نعيمة، وأحمد حسن الزيات، وعلى الطنطاوي، وتوفيق الحكيم، وأنيس منصور وغيرهم من الكتاب، ومن خلال قراءاتي ومتابعاتي لمؤلفاتهم، فكرت في عمل قراءة لبعض ما كتبوه من أراء وأفكار، بغض النظر عن اتفاقي، أو اختلافي معهم فكرياً، لكن رغبتي في التعرف على هؤلاء المفكرين، ومناقشة أفكارهم وأطروحاتهم، وأيضاُ إبراز اختلافاتهم الفكرية بين بعضهم البعض، والتناقضات التي طرحها بعضهم في مؤلفاته، ومن هؤلاء الذين تعرفت عليهم والتقيت يبعضهم في مصر، الفيلسوف د/ زكي نجيب محمود، د/ عبد الوهاب المسيري، الأستاذ فهمي هويدي، د/ محمد عمارة ، د/مصطفى محمود، وهذه المعرفة تمت بعد أن قرأت لهم ، وأعجبت بما طرحوه، من أفكار وقضايا فكرية وسياسية، وبعد انتهاء دراستي في مصر، ومتابعتي لكل جديد في عالم الكتب والكتاب ورؤيتهم الفكرية، تعرفت أيضا على بعض المفكرين، من الوطن العربي، من أمثال د/ محمد عابد الجابري، د/ طه عبد الرحمن، د/ فهمي جدعان، د/ محمد حامد الأحمري، والعلامة وحيد الدين خان، ود/ برهان غليون، د/ محمد جابر الأنصاري، وأحمد الفلاحي ، والأستاذ زكي الميلاد، ود/ عبد الكريم بكار، ود/ تركي الحمد.
