جمعت كتبي الثلاثة،" الرواية والمكان" الجزء الأول الذي صدر في شباط عام 1980 والجزء الثاني من "الرواية والمكان" الذي صدر مطبوعاً في مجلة آفاق عربية العدد الرابع - حزيران 1980، ثم طبع ضمن الموسوعة الصغيرة عام 1986 وكتاب" المكان في قصص الأطفال" الذي صدر عام 1986، في كتاب واحد. والسبب يعود إلى أن هذه الكتب الثلاثة، تشكل وحدة منهجية متصاعدة الرؤية النقدية، حيث الجزء الأول يمثل تمهيدات لرؤية واقعية اجتماعية لعلاقة المكان بالنص، والجزء الثاني يمثل تطبيقات على أمكنة مركزة ومحددة،وجدت أن الرواية العراقية قد تعاملت معها، ويمثل الكتاب الثالث الخاص بقصة الأطفال رؤية لشعرية العلاقة بين قصة الطفل والأمكنة المتخيلة. وإذا كان ثمة توصيف نقدي لهذه الكتب الثلاثة أقول: أن الجزء الأول هو بداية الحفر في أرض بكر، لم أكن مسبوقا بأي جهد لآخرين فيه، بينما يمثل الجزء الثاني، وقد كتب مجاورا مع الجزء الأول، الاستقرار النقدي في التعامل مع أمكنة معينة والإنبات فيها، بينما يشكل كتاب المكان في أدب الأطفال، التحول الشعري لعدد من كتاب القصة، من الأمكنة الواقعية للأمكنة المتخيلة، وهو مسعى لم نجده في الأدب العربي إلا عند عدد قليل من كتاب قصة الطفل.
