يحمل الكتاب الشحنة والشعرية معًا؛ حيث البحث في الداخل ينصب على استقصاء الشحنة في عدد من الأمكنة - كنماذج للمعالجة، يمكن توسيعها لتشمل أمكنة أخرى-. ثم يركز البحث عليها بعدّها وجهاً لجدلية تناقضات الأمكنة. أما الشعرية، فهي الشيء اللامرئي، الذي يختزنه المكان في شحناته وهويته وقدرته على مدّ الموضوع بطاقة تأويلية، بحيث لا يمكن التعامل مع أي من الأمكنة روائيًا، قصصيًا، شعريًا، تشكيليًا، من دون أخذ الشحنة بعين الاعتبار. لذلك فضلتُ أن يكون العنوان "الشعرية المكانية" بدلالة طاقة الشحنات التي تحملها شعرية الأمكنة، سواء ما كان منها طبيعياً، كالأهوار، والبحار، والجبال، والصحراء، والفضاءات الكبيرة، أو ما كان منها واقعياً؛ كالبيوت والأسواق والأزقة والمقاهي والسجون والممرات والشوارع والأرصفة والعمارة، أو فنياً أو خيالياً؛ كالظل، والصور، وأحلام اليقظ، وخيال المادة، وكل ما يدخل في الأدبية. فالشعرية "هي الدراسة النسقية للأدب كأدب. إنَّها تعالج قضية "ما الأدب؟ والقضايا الممكنة المطورة منها، كـ: ما الفن في اللغة؟ ما هي أشكال وأنواع الأدب؟ وما طبيعة جنس أدبي أو نزعة ما؟ ما نسق فن خاص أو لغة خاصة لشاعر ما؟ كيف تتشكل قصة ما؟ ما هي المظاهر الخاصة لآثار الأدب؟
