ما يعرفه النقاد عن الروائي الكندي "مايكل أونداتجي" أسلوبه الروائي غير الخطي الذي اطل به في روايات عديدة ومنها روايته الموسومة بـ"رؤي الإنقسام". من منظور الروائي الشخصي فإن أبرز ملامح الإنقسام في قوله "... لقد حاولت في هذه الرواية أن أقدم للقراء من خلال مجموعة تستعصي على النسيان من الشخصيات عملاً متعدد الطبقات عن الحب والفقدان والماضي الذي لا سبيل غلى التملص منه، عن المتطلبات غير المتوافقة من جانب العائلة والحب والذاكرة التي تمتد في مواجهة حياة تزاد كل يوم تعقيداً. ومن منظوري فإنني أعتبر هذه الرواية أكثر رواياتي حميمية وجمالاً وقدرة على الإقتراب من القلب". في هذا الفضاء الروائي، يبدو جلياً مدى فضول الروائي حيال أمور بالغة التباين، ومنها الوظائف التي يقوم بها الناس، تفكيك القنابل، الجراحة، ومونتاج الأفلام. عندما سئل الروائي عن هذا النوع من الأهتمام بسير سلوك الشخصيات في العمل، أجاب "نعم، إنني فضولي حيال الكيفية التي تعمل بها الأشياء، كيف يتم إنتاج فيلم، كيف يحدث الشعر تأثيره في النفوس، كيف يتم تجميع أجزاء لعبة ما معاً، رواياتي تدور حول الجار في نيوأورليانز، أو الحرب في سريلانكا، أو في إيطاليا، ولكنها تدور أيضاً حول تساؤلي: كيف سأتصرف في مثل ذلك الموقف؟ أو كيف سيتصرف الناس الذين أعرفهم؟" قسم الروائي عمله إلى ثلاثة أجزاء جاءت تحت العناوين الاتية: الجزء الأول: آنا، كليروكوب، الجزء الثاني: العائلة في العربة، الجزء الثالث: المنزل في ديمو.
