لعل القارئ يتعجب للوهلة الأولى من تلك الوثبة التي وثبها الشعر الروسي في مطلع القرن المنصرم ومن الازدهار الذي تحقق على أيدي فطاحله كبرشكين ولير منتوف وغيرهم. والقارئ في هذا لم يجانب الصواب في عجبه، إذ أن هذه الوثبة لم تظهر بين عشية وضحاها، بل تمتد إرهاصاتها بعيداً في مضارب الماضي. وهنا كان لا بد من الدكتورة حياة شرارة وقبل بدءها بديوان الشعر الروسي، من العودة إلى سفر النشوء والتكوين الذي ابتدأ منه الشعر الروسي كي يدرك القارئ مصدر النماء والعطاء الحاليين في الشعر الروسي، حيث قدمت لمحة سريعة من نشوء الشعر الروسي وتطور اتجاهاته وتعددها وذلك لمساعدة القارئ في تعريفه ولو تعريفاً موجزاً على سمات الحركة الشعرية ومسيرتها التاريخية وعلى أعلام شعرائها وأولئك الذين أسهموا في رقدها الفني ولو لم ينالوا شهرة عريضة.
