جاء هذا الكتاب ليكون الجزء الاول من سلسلة كتب الاستشعار عن بعد و تطبيقاته . ويتضمن ست فصول . اشتمل الفصل الاول على توضيح علاقة الصور الجوية بالعلوم الطبيعية و الانسانية و الهندسية . وخصص الفصل الثاني للخصائص الهندسية للصور الجوية ، واشتمل الفصل الثالث على موضوع التخطيط و الطيران للمسح الجوي و اعداد غطاء الصور الجوية و الحسابات المتعلقة بها . ويحوي الفصل الرابع شرحا لاجهزة الرسم الآلي الفوتوجرامترية سواء الاجهزة التي تستخدم في الرسم البلانمتري و مراجعة الخرائط ، واجهزة الرسم الآلي الستيريوسكوبية . اما الفصل الخامس فقد تناول موضوع تفسير الصور الجوية من الناحيتين النظرية والعلمية . بينما تضمن الفصل السادس شرحا لتفسير الصور الجوية في دراسة الانماط الحضارية و الصناعية . ولقد احتوى الكتاب على عددا كبيرا من الامثلة التطبيقية .
