عبر صفحات هذا الكتاب سنعود خمسة آلاف عام إلى الوراء وبالتحديد إلى بلاد الرافدين (العراق) لنتعرف معاً على سيرة الملك السومري، العظيم الشأن، والواسع السلطان "جلجامش". وفي هذا الكتاب يقص علينا الراوي "حكاية جلجامش" يستمدها من التاريخ حيناً ومن الأساطير حيناً، أو منهما معاً حيناً آخر. إنها حكاية الملك السومري الخامس ذاك الذي عاش في فترة 2700-2500 قبل الميلاد، وفي مدينة أورك عاصمته العظيمة، المدينة التي ما تزال قائمة حتى اليوم تحت إسم "الوركاء" في جنوب العراق. هذا الملك كان أشبه بإله، قوي الجسم، واسع الحركة، أرهق شعبه في بناء مملكته، ومع ذلك أحبه شعبه لأنه حليم حكيم، عادل في توزيع القسوة والرحمة لا يتحيز لفئة دون أخرى. ولكن، هل يستطيع الناس تحمل هذه القسوة إلى آخر الزمان. فما العمل إذاً. تخبرنا الحكاية، أن الناس وكبار أهل المدينة وأصحاب الحكمة والعقل، كانوا قد قروا بالإجماع الذهاب إلى آلهة الخلق – وكانت تدعى "آرورو" فصلوا لها طويلاً وقدموا البخور والقرابين، وطلبوا منها أن تخلق رجلاً قوياً كقوة "جلجامش" فيكون نداً له، بهدف أن يشغل "جلجامش" فينصرف عن شعبه ويرتاح منه. ومن هذا المنحنى، الإنعطافة، تنطلق الحبكة الأسطورية لملحمة "جلجامش" حينما نتعرف على "انكيدو" الشخصية الثانية في حكاية "جلجامش" الذي خلقته الآلهة "أرورو" من طين في البراري ليكون نداً لجلجامش، وخصوصاً إذا ما عرفنا أن "انكيدو" هو النقيض لشخصية "جلجامش" ويمثل جانب الخير في الأسطورة، لأنه كان يكره الشر ويعشق الخير، ومحباً للناس، فأحب أن يقوم بدور المنقذ المصلح في حياة مدينة أورك. فهل ينجح انكيدو في مصادقة جلجامش وينتصر الخير على الشر؟ محطات متعددة سوف نتوقف عندها بكثير من المتعة والتشويق والفائدة في آن معاً، والتي تمثل فيها الأسطورة أجمل ما قدمه الذهن البشري عن حياة الناس وما فيها من شؤون وشجون وآمال وآلام، وأعمال وأحلام ... جديرة بالإطلاع.
