شاعر وناقد ومفكر فلسطيني من مواليد محافظة الخليل، وهو حاصل على شهادة (الليسانس) في (اللغة العربية، والعلوم الإسلامية) في جامعة القاهرة 1968- ثم أكمل دراساته العليا لاحقاً، وحصل على (شهادة التخصص) في الأدب البلغاري الحديث و(درجة الدكتوراه) في النقد الحديث والأدب المقارن في جامعة صوفيا، عام 1981.
كما حصل على رتبة الأستاذية (بروفيسور) في جامعة فيلادلفيا عام 2005.

يرتبط النقد الثقافي بحقول الثقافة المتنوعة مستفيدا من مناهج العلوم الانسانية : الفلسفة والتاريخ والسياسة والفكر وعلم الاجتماع وعلم النفس والبيولوجيا و الالسنيات و النقد الادبي و الانثربولوجيا و غيرها حيث قراءة النصوص قراءة تتضمن مفهوم قراءة البنية و اهمية الاحالة الى مرجعيات من داخل النص وخارجه لتكشف (المسكوت عنه ) في النص ،اي قراءة البنيات السطحية الظاهرية للنص ، وقراءة البنيات العميقة ، وتفسير الدلالات و تأويلها في اطار، لا يجعل النص مجرد مجموعة من التصنيفات الشكلية .
