رواية “رقص” هي التجربة الأولى روائياً للناقد الدكتور معجب الزهراني في خطوة لم تكن متوقّعة، وهو الذي عرف عنه طروحاته النقدية التي تناولت الأدب المحلي والعالمي في الرواية والشعر والفن التشكيلي. تدور أحداث الرواية بين جنوب المملكة وإحدى المدن الفرنسية متناولة مرحلة تاريخية يتماهى فيها السياسي مع الديني مع الاجتماعي وتسرد التفاصيل حكاية بطل الرواية وتنقلاته بين قرى جنوب المملكة والمدن الفرنسية هرباً من الواقع وبحثاً عن واقع آخر أكثر قرباً من الإنسان والحياة، مدققاً في علاقاته مع أسراره الصغيرة التي يبني الجسد ولغة الجسد فيها جغرافياً تحمل معنى بشرياً خالصاً يسعى فيها بطل الرواية إلى الالتصاق بحريته والانفصال عن ظروفه التي تتبعه.
