تحقيق تطلعات وخطط التنمية المستدامة قائمٌ على الإنسان فهو محورها وهدفاً ووسيلتها وصانعها، مما يحتم العناية الفائقة بتربيته وتعليمه إستلهاماً لمكانة العلم السامية، وإدراكاً بأن التعليم عموماً مفتاح التنمية المستدامة وركيزة هامة لها، فالعلاقة بينهما علاقة تلازمية في مختلف جوانبها.
والمرحلة الثانوية على وجه الخصوص حلقة مهمة من حلقات التنمية المستدامة ومرحلة تطبيقات تربوية تنطلق من مبادئ وأهداف تنموية وطنية للدول، تستطيع بإدارتها ومعلميها وبيئتها ومناهجها وأنشطتها تفعيل أساليب تربوية متنوعة وبرامج وإجراءات عملية هادفة للإسهام بفاعلية في إعداد الأجيال إعداداً تربويّاً وتعليمياً وإجتماعيّاً وإقتصاديّاً وثقافياً وإكسابهم المعرفة والمهارات والقيم.
للوفاء بمسؤوليات التنمية وتحمل المواطنة والقيام بدورهم التنموي الفاعل لمواجهة تحديات الحاضر وإرهاصات المستقبل.
