يعالج هذا الكتاب التحولات الجارية في العالم والإنتقال من نظام أحادي القطبية إلى نظام متعدد الأقطاب من منظار جيوسياسي، عبر تحليل الهوية الجيوسياسية للولايات المتحدة وأوروبا الغربية وحلفائهما، والهوية الجيوسياسية للقوى الصاعدة مثل روسيا والصين وإيران والدول الأعضاء في منظمة البريكس، عبر دراسة مقارنة لتاريخ هذه الدول والقوى منذ فجر التاريخ وحتى الآن.
وينطلق الكتاب من الأزمة السورية بصفتها الساحة التي تتنافس فيها القوى الآنفة الذكر، في سعيها لتشكيل النظام الدولي الجديد والأنظمة الإقليمية الرديفة لهذا النظام، فيما يركز الفصل الأخير على إحتمالات صعود الدور المصري، وإمكانية أن تلعب مصر دور القوة المرجحة بين الولايات المتحدة والغرب من جهة، والصين وروسيا وحلفائهما من جهة أخرى.
