عندما تحاول رسم بورتريه إنسانى لمثقف أو مبدع أو فنان مصرى، فلابد أن تغمس ريشتك فى ألوان الشجن، حتماً ستقابلك مسحة أسى و لمحة حزن و إطراقة خجل و نوبة اكتئاب.
بين دفتى هذا الكتاب ، مثقفون و مبدعون مصريون عانوا من عدم الفهم أحياناً ، و التجاهل أحياناً أخرى، و التعامل معهم على أنهم إما مجانين و إما ملاعين، جريمتهم الكبرى أنهم ولدوا فى مجتمع لا يجيد ثقافة الستامح مع شطط المبدع و جنون الفنان و عبقرية المفكر و خروجه على النص، و رغبته فى تجاوز الخطوط الحمراء و ولعه ببلوغ المستحيل..
مجتمع لا يحتمل غناء من هم خارج السرب، و يتربص بكل من يشرد عن القيطع. المثقف هنا لا تستطيع حنجرته أن تعبر ضفاف الإبداع إلا من خلال الأوتار الصوتية و الميركروفون و الأثير و الكون و ذبذبات الهواء، يداعبه كرسى السلطة أحياناً فيسيل لعابه ، و أحياناً يكره الانخراط فى لعبة الاستخدام من الكبار فيدق عنقه، فالمجتمع لا يسمح له بدور زرقاء اليمامة قارئة المستقبل، و لكنه يسمح فقط بدور مهرج الملك و فقيه السلطان و لاعب السيرك على جميع الحبال.
إنها مجرد بورتريهات إنسانية حاول الكاتب أن يرسمها بألوان البهجة ، فإذا به يرسمها بدموع المآقى.
