هذا الكتاب محاوَلة ٌمتواضِعةٌ لتكسير أصنام كثيرةٍ راسِخَةٍ في عَددٍ ضخمٍ ومُؤثَر من المسلمين ، تلك الأصنام التي جَعَلتنا في خِصامٍ مع العالَم والحضارة والحداثة ، هي أصنامُ عَدَمِ فَهْمٍ ، نِتاجُ جهلأٍ و مغالطاتٍ ، عن حُسْنِ نِيَةٍ ، أو نتيجة غسيل أَدْمِغَةٍ وتَزييفِ وَعْيٍ لبعض الجماهير ، أو فهم مغلوط عَمْدًا وقَصْداً من الدُعاة ورجالِ الدين للاحتفاظ بالسُلْطَة والثَروة والتَأثير ، وإذا كان النبيُ إبراهيمُ - عليه السلام - قد حَطَمَ الأصنامَ بالأمسِ ، ، فقد كانَت مَهَمَتُه أسهلَ من مَهَمَه مَن يُفكِر فى تحطيمها اليومَ ، فالأصنامُ قد سارَت أضخمَ وأفخمَ وأَرْسَخَ والفَأْسُ الَذي كان يستطيع تحطيمَ الفَخَار والصَلصال لم يَعُدْ يَصْلُحُ لتحطيم الصُلْبِ والفولاذ . الأصنامُ سَارت تَصنَعُها مُؤسساتٌ ، وتَحْرُسُها مافْياتٌ ، وتَذْبَحُ لها القرابينَ من البَشر بالمليارات ، وتَصْرفُ عليها من الأموالِ التَريليونات ! لذلك ، فمعركَةُ تحطيمِ الأصنامَ أَصْبحَت تحتاجُ إلى جَسارَةِ السُؤالِ وتغيير الأسلِحَةُ وتَوْسِعَةِ الجبْهَة . أَصنامُ قَومِ إبراهيمَ خَرجَت من المعبَدِ إلى الشَارعِ وإلى داخِلِ عَقْلِكَ أيضا ، حيث تَسْكُنُ خلايا فِكْرِكَ ورُحِكَ ، وتتَخِذ قراراتِك وتتحكَم في سلوكِكَ ، فَهَل يَستطيعُ فأسُ العَقلِ والسُؤالِ والشَكَ والنَقدِ أنْ يستعيدَ قُوَتَه ويُحَطَمَ تلكَ الأصنامَ ؟ .
