بين الغربة والوطن تتموضع حركة السرد متنقلة بين (بيروت ودبي) وبين (دبي والشام) في رواية الكاتب اللبناني "منير الحايك" التي اختار لها عنواناً لافتاً (مترو دبي) ولوحة غلاف تبرز مترو يسابق الريح، ومن خلفه صورة لأبراج دبي التي تناطح السحاب. وكأنه أراد وضع جداراً نفسياً عازلاً بين بطل الرواية القادم من لبنان بحثاً عن فرصة عمل وبين العالم الجديد، الذي بدأ فيه للتو تجربة جديدة، تمضي فيها الأيام، والأشهر، في رتابة وروتين يتملكان حياة الإنسان، حتى يكاد ينسى أنه كان يعيش حياة صخب وفوضى في يوم من الأيام. هكذا وصف له أصحابه في البلد الجديد حياته القادمة قبل أن يبدأ عمله في مصرف (بنك أبو ظبي الإسلامي) وكأنه لا يكفيه الشعور بالغربة، والوحدة، والذي يزداد سوءاً كلما هاتف أهله "آه منك يا أمي، آه من ذاكرتي هذه، التي تستحضر، لشدة قوتها الصور وكأنها تحصل الآن!". وفي خلال هذه الرحلة يتعرف بطل الرواية إلى "نور" شابة سورية تعيش في دبي، تنشأ بينهما قصة حب ما تلبث أن تتحول إلى فاجعة عندما تذهب إلى بلدها وتقضي في انفجار؛ في إشارة إلى الأوضاع العامة الأخيرة السائدة في سوريا. ربما أراد منير الحايك القول من خلال روايته هذه أن كل قدر بشري، كل لحظة في أي قدر بشري، هي تجربة "فريدة لا تتكرر" مثل قطرة في محيط. لكن من عساه يقدر على تحديد هوية تلك القطرة، وعلى فصلها عن ذلك المحيط؟ وهكذا هي حياة الإنسان محطات، ومثلها أعمار الدول، وأعمار الناس.
