كان التركيز في هذا الكتاب على فلسفة ديلتاي أكثر ولم نغفل البدايات التاريخية للتأويل والهيرمينوطيقا سواء من خلال العودة إلى السياقات الفكرية والفلسفية لمدلولات الفهم والتأويل والهيرمينوطيقا أو الوقوف في فصل عند المسلمين ومساهمتهم في هذا المجال فغالباً لا يخصص للتأويل الإسلامي حيزاً في الكتابات التي تتناول تاريخ التأويل والقراءة. في الفصل الثالث كان البدء بدانهاور الستراسبورغي من القرن السابع عشر الذي عادة ما ينسب إليه استخدام مفهوم "الهيرمينوطيقا"- هذا الإنتساب الذي لا يرضى عنه غادامير- وتم الحديث عن دراوسن وميي وغيرهما منتهياً عند شليرماخر، كما تناولنا التأويل في الفلسفة التحليلية من خلال ما يعرف بالفلسفة الطاعوية أو التقوية وعلاقة ذلك بمسألة الإحسان. تعتبر هذه المساهمة بداية لدراسة متواصلة عن الهيرمينوطيقا في الفلسفة الغربية المعاصرة، والبحث عن آليات جديدة للقراءة والفهم نستثمرها في قراءاتنا لتراثنا وثقافتنا وواقعنا، فالحياة والفهم في عالمنا العربي والإسلامي يحتاجان منا إلى معاودة تفحس مناهجنا ورؤانا والعمل على استثمار التطورات الهائلة الحاصلة سواء في مجال العلوم البيولوجية والرقمية بالخصوص والعلوم الإنسانية والاجتماعية التي يرى بعض الاستشرافيين أنها قد تفقد كثيراً من وهجها ومواضيعها التقليدية في هذا القرن.
