يطمح هذا الموضوع بناء الدلالة في النص الروائي إلى تحليل النص الروائي العربي، باعتباره بنية دلالية، أي أنها تشكيل من عناصر بنائية وتركيبية تتضمن بالضرورة دلالات ومعان، وحيث توجد بنية توجد دلالة، وعبر تفاعل هذين المحفلين بتأسيس النص الروائي وينتج أدبيته وأفق تلقيه.
بناءً على ذلك لا يمكن الزعم بدلالة ثابتة للنص، أو معنى حقيقي تنحصر مهمة الباحث في العثور عليه؛ إن النص يرشح بدلالات متعددة، تخضع لشبكة معقدة من العلاقات الظاهرة والمضمرة، وهذا ما يجعلنا ننظر إلى الدلالة بوصفها سيرورة نصية تداولية، يتحكم فيها محفل الإنتاج ومحفل التلقي، ولكن عن أي دلالة نبحث؟.
إن الروائي المعاصر يشتغل على الكلمات لا على الأشياء، ذلك أن الرواية وإن كانت تبطن رؤية للعالم والإنسان، وتتقاطع مع التاريخ والإيديولوجيا، فإن الروائي لا يمكن أن يعبر عن هذا العالم إلا بالإنسحاب منه، وإعادة تشكيله وفق قوانين اللغة والجنس الأدبي.
