في هذا الكتاب، يقدم الدكتور محمد بو عزة دراسة في النتاج الروائي لسليم بركات. جاءت الدراسة تحت عنوان "هيرمنيوطيقا المحكي: النسق والكاوس في العالم الروائي لسليم بركات" قدم لها بمقدمة في الأشكال والمنهج والرؤية يطمح من خلالها كما يقول إلى تحليل النص الروائي العربي "بناء الدلالة في النص الروائي" أي باعتباره بنية دلالية تتشكل من عناصر بنائية وتركيبية تتضمن بالضرورة دلالات ومعان.
وفي هذا الإطار يطرح الكاتب أسئلة وإشكالات من شأن تمحيص السؤال فيها، أن يعمق فهم القارىء لمسألة اشتغال الدلالة في النص الروائي، ولكيفيات ومستويات هذا الإشتغال. فإن مقاربة الكاتب لأسئلة مثل: ما هي الكيفية التي بدل لها النص الروائي؟، وكيف يمكن البحث في دلالة النص الروائي؟ وكيف يساهم القارىء في إنتاج هذه الدلالة؟ وغيرها من أسئلة سوف تمكّن الدارس من ملامسة الأنساق الدلالية والتخييلية والمعرفية للرواية العربية، ثم تحديد أهمية وقيمة موقعها كنسق إبستيمي وسط الأنساق الثقافية المحددة لتمثلات وصور المجتمع عن ذاته وهويته ومستقبله ومشروعه.
بالنسبة للكاتب يشكل المنظور المعرفي "المرتكز الأساس في قراءة متن "سليم بركات" ينهض هذا النموذج على اعتبار السردية "أنموذجاً للصياغة الذاتية وصياغة العالم"، ومن ثمّ تتحدد مهمته في كشف الدور التشييدي للسردية في صياغة أنساق الفهم وإنتاج المعرفة بالذات والمحيط، للتفاعل مع العالم من أجل تحقيق سبل مشروع الذات".
تقسم الدراسة إلى مقدمة وبابين يبحث الباب الأول في: الدلالة في السرديات (البنيوية – الخطاب – السيميوطيقا السردية، وغيرها مثل الدلالة الروائية والإبستمي الروائي والمتخيل الروائي ... أما الباب الثاني فيبحث في: بنية المحكي ودلالة المحكي وتشاكلات الأنساق وهيرمنيوطيقا المحكي وإبستمي المحكي ... الخ.
