لكلّ مقالٍ مقام، من هنا انطلقت محاور الكتاب، واتّسعت رؤاه، ثمّ تشعّبت في تفاصيلٍ تمسُّ كلّ موضوع على حده. فنجد المازنيّ يرجع إلى زمن أبعد، حيث تحدّث عن أبو الطّيّب المتنبّي، وابن الرّومي، في كلمةٍ عن حياته، ووقوفًا عند ديوانه.
قدّم عملًا مميّزًا، ومقالًا أثرى المكتبة، ولم يفتْه أن يولي النّقد أهمّيّته، فتناول إشكاليّات نقديّة، نذكر منها إشكاليّة الحقيقة والمجاز في الّلغة.
