"أنا وحدي" شكوت، فسألني "أولم تخلقني لأبدد وحشتك؟" فقلت له وأنا أشير الى موضع القلب "أنظر! هذا القلب ، قلبي ، ألا تراه؟ مثل غرفة في بيت محترم، فيها مقاعد، قبالة موقد فيه رماد. وعلى الموقد صور كلها رماد، قديمة، شائبة ولكنها تبث في القلب دفئا يحوله العقل الى برد وخواء. انظر صور تتنفس صورا وأنا وحدي، وحدي والبكاء، " فسألني " وماذا تفعل بالبكاء؟ " فقلت " هذا الحنين جثة قتيل قاتله مجهول والجثة تنتفخ وأخاف ان اُرْمَى به فاصبُّ البكاء غديرا يجري ويأخذ الجثة معه، "فسألني" متى افلح البكاء؟ فالتفتّ الى الاصيل، ورأيت نخلة تحاول مماشاة النسيم، ورأيت غبارا يحثّ خطاه صوب البحر، ورأيت عجوزا على عتبة دارها تنهض من سهومها وتتجه الى جوّا البيت. ولم أجب، ولكنه فهم عني. فلقد سجى الليل، وتناهى الى السمع صوت ناي بعيد بعيد بعيد حتى لكأنه حد الأذن. مقتطف من السديم والهشيم كتاب غني بالشطحات الصوفية والصور الرائعة، وسيكون اضافة جميلة وثمينة في مكتبة كل مخلص ومحب له. تدخل مجموعة النصوص التي في متناولنا، الطبقات السفلية في البعد التأملي، ويعزز هذا الانطباع استبقاء جملة "ليس النص ما تقرأ بل هو ما تظن" في مطلع الكتاب.
