المجموعةٌ القصصيّةٌ الأولى للكاتبة سمر الزّعبي، تتوزّع فيه النّصوص بين الواقعيّة والخيال، فتعرض بعض النماذج من المجتمع، تلك الشخصيّات المسحوقة، التي غرَف الفقرُ من إناءِ عمرها، ولم يُبقِ لها سوى القليل، وهذا هو ما يمُدَّها بالإرادة، فهي شخوصٌ تعرف أنّ عليها أن تعيش ما تبقّى من عمرها كيفما اتّفق، رغم التنازلات التي أوجعتها.
تنازلات، ليسَ مسمّى إحدى القصص الموجودة في الكتاب فحسب، فأغلب أبطال الحكايا قد قدّموا تنازلاتهم في الحياة، وإن لم يشعروا، لكن لم يستسلم أكثرهم، مثل "الكاتبة" بطلة قصّة تنازلات، التي وقّتَتْ قلَمَها حسب متطلّبات واجباتها، وأوقات فراغ عائلتها، بل قدّمت تنازلاتٍ أشدُّ وقعًا بدافعٍ من العطاء، وعدم ثقةٍ بالنّفس تجاه ما تكتبه، فأحالت كتبها إلى درجٍ صغير في غرفة نومها، حتّى خسرت جميعَ مُكتسباتها.
أمّا جانب الخيال فارتبط بالغرائبيّة، والحلم، وانتهى غالبًا نهايةً فنتازيّة، كما جاءت بعض النّصوص بأسلوبٍ يحمل الدُّعابةَ والسّخريةَ غير المبالغ بها، ويسودُ جوٌّ من السّلام بين أبطال الحكايا، ربّما يكونُ مبعثه الاستسلام، أو البراءة وعدم جنوحها إلى العنفِ إلّا في بضع نصوص.
