بونسون دو ترايل: روائي فرنسي، معروف بكتاباته في أدب المغامرات.
ولد ألكس بونسون دو ترايل عام ١٨٢٩م، بمدينة مونمارتر الفرنسية. عُرف بإنتاجه الأدبي الغزير، فقد أنتج ثلاثة وسبعين مجلدًا خلال عشرين عامًا. تنتمي أعماله الروائية المبكرة إلى الأدب القوطي، وعندما بدأ في كتابة «سلسلة روكامبول» قام بنشرها في جريدة يومية، وهي سلسلة من القصص المنتمي لأدب الغموض والمغامرة، وقد مَثلت هذه السلسلة تحوله من الأدب القوطي إلى الأدب البطولي الحداثي.
وقد توفي بونسون دو ترايل عام ١٨٧١م.

تبرهن لنا هذه القصة على أنَّ المبادئ الإنسانية قد تُعْدَم على مَقَاصِل من الخداع الذي يهدم مبادئ الصدق والأخوة في أسمى صروحها، وهذا هو المغزى الذي تدور حوله هذه القصة؛ فقد استطاع «أندريا» المحتال الشرير أن يخدع شقيقه «أرمان دي كركاز» وزوجته، بصدق توبته؛ فَخُيِّل لأرمان أن شقيقه أصبح من الأبرار، فكلَّفَه بمقاومة الجمعية السرية التي تضمُّ عددًا من اللصوص الذين تخصَّصوا في التجسس على العائلات، وسلب أموالهم، ولم يَدْرِ أرمان أنَّ أندريا هو زعيم هذه العصابة، وتكشف لنا أحداث هذه القصة عن أقنعة الزيف التى ارتداها هذا المخادع لتحقيق مآربه الدنيئة، فهل سيفلح في الوصول إلى تلك المآرب؟
