"وحدي في فم الوحش، ولا أعرف كيف وصلت إلى هنا. لا أرى ملامحه، بل فقط جوفه الهائل يحيطني من كل جانب ويغوص في الفضاء مبتلعاً مسافاتٍ خيالية. عالقاً بين هاويتين، تارة يخيّل إلي أنني أسقط وتارة أنني أصعد، ثم أكتشف أنّ بإمكاني أن أوجّه مخيّلتي بحريّة في جهة أو في أخرى.نسيمٌ بارد يلفح عنقي، أتحسّس المنطقة المصابة فأكتشف عدم وجود أيّ هواء. هنا ألاحظ واقع أنني لا أتنفس وإثر ذلك تعتريني ألفة غريبة. لكن أين يمكن للألفة أن تتماهى مع الغرابة إلى هذا الحد؟ هل هذا يعقل؟ هل متّ؟ هل يكون الأنا المنغلق على نفسه من أمام العالم وحشاً أعمى يجترّ ظلامه إلى ما لا نهاية؟"
