رغبتُ، حال إنتهائي من قراءة قصص المجموعة، أن أهاتف لؤي لأهتف بصوت ينزعُ لأن يَصِلَ التخوم الملتبسة الفاصلة للموت عن الحياة، أو لهذه الحياة السوداء عن ذاك الموت الأبيض: "أغمض عينيك... فترى"!.
أي "موت" هذا الذي يحتضن "حياتنا" بإفتراس يقارب الشهوة! وأيُّ "حياة" هذه التي نفرت من ذاتها وصاحبها، لتلوذ بمساحات تأملُ أن يكون غموضها هو سرُّ راحتها!... "أغمض عينيك... فترى"!...
لعله بين مجموعة من الكتاب العراقيين الذين ظهروا في العقدين الأخيرين، يمثّل قيمةً لافتةً في مسار الأدب العراقي خلال سنوات الحصار، والعزلة عن العالم، فأعماله على قلّتها، تشير إلى ثبات في التقاليد الأدبية العراقية التي كانت دائماً على صلة بالأدب العالمي وتياراته الجديدة، إنه يمضي إلى تجارب تشير إلى كاتب تشغله العلاقة بين المادة المفكر بها قصصياً وبين تقنيها، ومع أنه يولي المكان إهتماماً لافتاً، غير أن شخصياته تعبره مثل أطياف غير مستقرة، فهي تجسد التشظي والإمحاء، لا الثبات والوضوح.
