يستعرض هذا الكتاب السيرة الذاتية للملك فيصل الثاني، آخر ملوك العراق، منذ ميلاده ونشأته داخل الأسرة الهاشمية، مرورًا بتوليه العرش ومسيرته السياسية في مرحلة شهدت تحولات كبرى في تاريخ العراق والمنطقة. ويتناول أبرز القرارات والأحداث التي رافقت فترة حكمه، وعلاقاته بالقوى السياسية الداخلية والخارجية، وصولًا إلى أحداث مجزرة قصر الرحاب في 14 تموز 1958 التي انتهت بمقتله وسقوط النظام الملكي. ويهدف الكتاب إلى تقديم قراءة تاريخية متوازنة لحياة الملك فيصل الثاني ودوره في الحياة السياسية العراقية، مع تسليط الضوء على الظروف التي أحاطت بنهاية العهد الملكي وأثرها في تاريخ العراق الحديث.
