يعرض هذا الكتاب: أهم المباحث في الأحاديث الموضوعة، والسِيَر والوقائع، كما يُعَرِّف معنى الوضع في اللغة واصطلاح المحدِّثين، وُيبَّين حكم روايته، ويُسَلِّط الضوء على تاريخ ظهوره وأسباب اختلاقه، ويحدِّد الضوابط لمعرفته.
ويتحدَّث عن موقف الرسول الأكرم،، وأهل بيته من الموضوعات وعن أحاديثهم وتحذيرهم في مقاومة الوضَّاعين. وينبِّه على خطورة انتشار الموضوعات في هذا العصر، ويُرشِد إلى طريقة التخلُّص منها، حتى لا يتخذّ الناس منها زُوْراً إلى رسول الله (ص) و أهل بيته (عليهم السلام)، ووسيلة للغَمز من مقامهم الكريم، وسبيلاً للهزء بالدِّين الْحَقِّ الذي جاء به رسولنا الكريم.
وكذلك فإنَّ هذا الكتاب معنيٌّ بعرض الأحاديث والروايات والسِيَر والحوادث التاريخية التي شابها الكثير من الكذب حتى صارت من المُسَلَّمات عند الناس وصار أهل المنابر يتلوها من على منابر المسلمين، وصارت من المشهورات تتناقلها الأجيال، ومعلومٌ إنَّ ليس كلُّ مشهور هو صحيح، وليس كل ما تكرَّرَ تقرَّر.
