هذا ما نفعله منذ آلاف السنوات، لكن هناك نهج مختلف عن مواجهة الكراهية بالكراهية، لأنّني إذا استخدمتُ أساليب عنيفة لقمع الغضب في نفسي فأنا أستخدم وسائل خاطئة للوصول إلى نهاية طيبة، وعليه لن تكون هناك هذه النهاية الطيبة.
نحن من صنع العدو وقطاع الطرق، وأصبحنا نحن أنفسنا العدو بعدم إنهاء الخصومة. علينا فهم سبب العداء والكفّ عن تغذيته بأفكارنا ومشاعرنا وأفعالنا، وهذه مهمة شاقة تتطلب وعياً ذاتياً مستمراً ومرونة ذكية لأنّنا المجتمع والدولة.
العدو والصديق هما نتيجة أفكارنا وعملنا، ونحن مسؤولون عن حالة العداوة هذه، لذا من المهم أن نكون مدركين لفكرنا وعملنا أكثر من الاهتمام بالعدو والصديق، فالتفكير الصحيح يضع نهاية للانقسام، ووحده الحبّ يتجاوز الصديق والعدو
