واليوم لمّا طرقتُ الباب
لم يَقُلْ لي أحَدٌ لماذا ومن أين جئت.
طرقتُ باب بيتنا في العرائش غير بعيد
عن «الطرق الأربع».
باب البيت المطلي بالأزرق في شارع خوانادي أركو.
أمّي فتحت لي الباب
أمِّي بقامتها القصيرة ووجهها المدوّر فتحت الباب
لي. لم تُرحِّب ولم تقطّب.
بَدَت على وشك أن تبكي
بُكَاءً غزيراً منقطع النظير.
البيت كله كان غاطساً في ضبابٍ أرجوانيٍّ كثيف.
شبح البيوت التي أزورها فيما فات من أيام
يبدو ملفوفا في نفس الضباب
الأرجواني الكثيف.
