الدانيون أو "الدنماركيون" كانوا قبيلة شمالية جرمانية سكنت جنوبي إسكندنافيا العصر الحديدي، والتي أسس أحفادها ما أصبح في نهاية المطاف مملكة الدنمارك. وتعني اسم قبيلتهم يعني "حدود الدنماركيين" في اللغة الجرمانية الدنيا، في إشارة إلى منطقة حدودهم الجنوبية بين نهري آيدر وSchlei.
