يعيش التجار في الأسواق والتي هي أبغض البقاع الى الله, لأنها موطن غفلة, تدور فيها معركة الشيطان بين الحق والباطل, وبين الخير والشر, لأن في الأسواق منكرات كثيرة هي جل أسلحة إبليس, من كذب وخداع وظلم وغش وحسد وجفاء, وأكل للربا. هذه الأسلحة التي يغوي بها عباد الله, ليأكلوا أموالهم بينهم بالباطل, ويوقع بينهم العداوة والبغضاء, ويصدهم عن ذكر الله. وقد عزم المؤلف على جمع ما يحصل من المنكرات في الأسواق, بقصد التنبيه عليها وإنكارها للابتعاد عنها, ومن ابتعد عنها, فاز في الدنيا والآخرة, ونجاه الله من ظلام الجهل الى نور الإسلام, ومن الشقاوة الى السعادة, أما من عاش مع هذه المنكرات في بيعه وشرائه, عاش في ظلمات الجهل وسخط الله, وخاب وخسر يوم لا ينفع مال ولا بنون إلا من أتى الله بقلب سليم. وقد جمع المؤلف هذه المنكرات, والرد عليها من كتاب الله عز وجل, وسنة رسوله صلى الله عليه وسلم.
