في هذا الكتاب يركز المؤلف "كريم شلال" على مجموعة من الأعمال الأدبية وبحسهِ النقدي يقدمها في جسد ثقافي واحد وكأنهُ يتكلم مع قوس قزح الخارج مِنْ عمل نحتي، غارقٌ بما تركهُ كل كاتب من بقايا رائحتهُ على المكان والأوراق، في مُنحنيات الكتاب نجد حدس المؤلف وهو يطرق باب الروح في سماء الشعر وكأنه في موعدٍ مع "أفروديت"، يتخذ لغة الماء ليحاور ممتلكات الزيزفون في عروش الجمال، يتنقل عبر الأثير ليبحث عن بقايا الغربة المستوطنة في مدن الصمت، وعن ملامح إنسان يركعُ عند أبواب المنفى، ينتحل صفة الحضور في زمن تعدى ملايين السنين الضوئية، يعقدُ إتفاقية ليكون العين التي ترى الظلام من خلف الجدران، يبحِرُ للطرف الآخر عِبر جسد القصة، فيرى نفسهُ واقفاً أمام الأرض الملونة، فكل تجربة تحمل لون الواقع الإنساني الذي يلملم الحياة في أشباه الصور، مُتخذة السراب بصمة الحدود إلى اللاوعي في منازل العقل، وكحبة رمل تحتل صدفة في قاع البحر.
هكذا تتبلور قصة قصيرة أو رواية على ساحل مليء بأمواج البحر، يحكي سيرة كل ربان وسفينة، ممتزجة روحه برائحة المقاهي، بقليل من صمت الجلد، بأفواه المارة، بضجيج الطاولات المركونة على الأرصفة.
وهنا نرى المؤلف يحدد بوصلتهُ ليترجم إشارات الماء في حسهِ النقدي إلى عناوين في كل منارة من أحداثيات المرافئ واللازمان واللامكان، هكذا تترِكُ القصة ورثها الغني للأحفاد، كي يسرفوا المكان من خلف الشمس، وينبضوا بالحياة العتيقة التي نامت على فراش أوراق الخريف ليولدوا هم من ربيع المناسبات.
استطاع الكاتب من خلال بصيرتهُ التي لامست تداخلات العقل في "فضاء المعاصرة الشعرية، رؤى في الحداثة"، في كتابه الأخير، إن يرسم بنقده لوحة الوجود واللاوجود في أيقونات الظلال الساكنة في كل مؤلفاته الأدبية.
