شغلت هذه الدراسة برصد البنى الإيقاعية في خطب نهج البلاغة، من خلال ملاحظة الإشارات الإيقاعية والملامح الصوتية في النص وإظهار دلالاتها، محاوِلةً التركيز على السمة الأكثر تأثيراً؛ لعقد مواشجة بينها وبين دلالة الخطب بوجه عامّ، بحيث يمكن أن تشكل تلك الدلالة ملمحاً أسلوبياً. بوصف النصّ الأدبي عبارة عن طبقاتٍ متراكمة من البنى، وبوصف البنية الإيقاعية أكثر البنى ظهوراً، وأسبقها بادرة للملاحظة، ولمّا كانت الدراسات الإيقاعية التي أبحرت في محيط النثر العربي، لم تبلغ الشأوَ الذي بلغته نظيرتُها في الشعر، تولّدتْ لدى الباحث فكرةُ الدراسة الراهنة، مستأنساً بإجراءات المنهج الأسلوبي الحديث.
