ويرى الكاتب سمير أمين فى كتاب " قانون القيمة المعولمة " أن كون المرء ماركسياً لا يعنى التوقف عند النتائج التى توصل إليها ماركس رغم جوهريتها، وما أحدثته من آثار خطيرة على مسار العالم منذ مائة وستين عاماً وحتى اليوم، وإنما استكمالها والتوصل للنتائج التى يؤدى إليها منهج التفكير الماركسى فى عالم اليوم، عالم الرأسمالية الاحتكارية الإمبريالية المعولمة.
وهو فى هذا الكتاب يشرح أن ماركس عندما وجه انتقاده الجذرى لعلم الاقتصاد الشائع، كان يثبت أن هذا العلم، الذى لم ينشأ إلا فى ظل نشأة الرأسمالية، كان الهدف الرئيسى منه هو تبرير ممارسات الرأسمالية، وتغطية الاستغلال الذى تمارسه الرأسمالية للطبقة العاملة وبقية الطبقات الشعبية.
يقدم الكتاب قانون القيمة المعولمة بوصفه الشكل الجديد لقانون القيمة الماركسى ولكن فى ظروف الأوضاع الرأسمالية الحالية، ولعل الشكل الرئيسى لصراع الطبقات على المستوى العالمى اليوم، هو الصراع بين القوى الإمبريالية للثالوث المركزى (الولايات المتحدة وأوروبا واليابان) وبين شعوب وأمم العالم الثالث على الحصول غير المشروط للموارد الطبيعية للكوكب، ولا يمكن تصور اشتراك الطبقات العاملة فى الشمال فى الصراع ضد الإمبريالية إلا بعد نجاح شعوب وأمم الجنوب فى انتزاع السيطرة على مواردها الطبيعية (أو جزء كبير منها على الأقل)، بما يقلل من الريع الإمبريالى الذى يستخدم جزئياً لإعادة إنتاج مجتمعات الشمال.
وهنا فقط يمكن أن تشعر الطبقات العاملة فى الشمال بأنها هى الأخرى تتعرض للاستغلال الإمبريالى وتنضم لنضال 80 % من سكان العالم من أجل التحرر من هذا الاستغلال وتشارك فى السير فى طريق الاشتراكية.
