يعتبر تحليل الخطاب أحد المناهج الخاصة بالدراسات الكيفية والتفسيرية ، فهو يعتمد على مهارات المحلل وكفاءته وأدواته المستخدمة في البحث والاستدلال من خلال التشفير اللغوي، وأسلوب تفكيك الظاهرة اللغوية والاجتماعية والمعرفية إلى عناصرها الأولية التي يتركب منها الخطاب.
لتحليل الخطاب روافده وموارده متعددة ، ينهل من اللسانيات اللفظية الذاتية النفسية واللغوية، ومن اللسانيات النصية( بناء النص من ناحية الروابط والانسجام الدلالي). ومن الحجاج البعد الحجاجي ( الضمني) ، وما يوجه إلى قصد بعينه، ومن التداولية والبلاغة وعلم الاجتماع وعلم الاتصال، والذكاء الاصطناعي ، والمتنطق والفلسفة ، يوظفها توظيفا خالصا لبناء منظومته المعرفية.
