تنزل فصول هذا الكتاب في إطار حقل معرفي واحد، رغم أنّها تطرق مواضيع قد لا يتبين القارئ وجه العلاقة بينها بيسر، وتدور على ضروب من الخطاب لا تجمع بينها مناسبة قويّة على غرار ما يجمع بين فصول الكتاب عندما تكون متّصلة يسلم الواحد منها إلى الآخر ويخضع جميعها لفكرة متّحدة. وهذه الفصول أيضاً تتوسل بمعارف شتّى وتغرف من بحار علوم كثيرة. والحق ّ أنّ هذا التنوّع من تنوع الحقل الذي تنزل فيه هذه الأعمال وتنسب إليه نعني تحليل الخطاب (L’analyse du discours) اختصاصاً (Discipline) يتصدّى لأول مرّة في تاريخ البشرية، وانطلاقاً من موقع نظريّ جديد، لدراسة سائر ما ينتجه المجتمع من ملفوظات تنتمي إلى أجناس خطابية مختلفة لا فرق في ذلك بين النصوص الأدبية وما يدور بين أفراد الأسرة من حديث حين تجمعهم مائدة الطعام.
ولمّا كان تحليل الخطاب اختصاصاً ناشئاً لم يكتسب شرعيّته في الأوساط العلميّة إلا في السنوات الأخيرة، حق لنا أن نعرّف به نشأة وموضوعاً ومنهجاً، ويكشف عن إطار نظري جامع إليه استندنا في سائر ما أثرناه من قضايا، ومنه استلهمنا عُدّتنا النظرية وجزءاً كبيراً من جهازنا المفاهيمي الذي وظفناه في قراءة جملة من الخطابات.
